Sooooo…
Woops it’s been more than a week! I’ve just been pretty busy, with 45 hours of school my free time is pretty limited!
But this is a summary of my week:
Last Saturday I went to the plaza, then at night Cata came over and we went to a mall. Then she invited me to sleep at her house. It was a really nice evening, really relaxed! Then on Sunday I went to a park with Cata and later to a mall again. I got back pretty late and didn’t do much else.
On Monday my first real school week started, the week was pretty good. At lunch I mostly hung out with Lea and another intercambio (Catherine) and then the people from 3. Medio.
I went to the plaza again a couple of times, and had lots of Ligretto or Monopoly evening with the kids.
On Wednesday I had sports for the first time. It was suuuuper tough! You cannot compare it with school sport in Switzerland! First we did strength and conditioning stuff for like 1h 15min and then we played ‘Schnappball’ which is the game the apparently always play here. It’s a version of Völki. If your team loses you have to do more strength exersizes.
On Wednesday I also went to Lea’s house for lunch.
In the morning Sofía (they call her Safi) asked me if I wanted to go to the mall after school, I asked her if it was ok if I asked Lea if she wanted to join us. So the three of us took the bus and went to some mall, I can’t remember the name but it was really cool! In that mall there are 20 pianos all over the place that you are allowed to play. I ‘made’ Lea play some : ) but I think she enjoyed it too! She does have a keyboard at her house here but it’s pretty small. It was really cool to watch the people who were walking by freeze and listen for at least a little while.
We had some ice cream too – I had Peanut Butter! : ) Afterwards they dropped me off at my house and then took the bus in the direction of the school, because both of them live very close to the school. On Thursday I had MC Sport for the first time – it’s like EF Sport in Switzerland. It’s my only class that I have with Lea and Catherine is there as well. It was just like sport on Wednesday except that it was even tougher, and with the sore muscles that I already had from the day before it was really tough, all of us wanted to just lie down and never get up again! : ) But still they’re my favorite hours of the week!
Yesterday on Friday Lea, Zoe, Gracia and I went to the city center with Juan (someone from the school, who does whatever is needed). We’re the exchange students who still don’t have our ID’s and all of that stuff. We started by going to the PDI, you had to take a number and then wait until yours was up. We talked a lot so the 3 or 4 hours went by pretty quickly. Our next stop was in an office where the other three had to get a form legalized because they’re not 18 yet. Then we went to the Registro Civil and had to wait in line again. The line was super short, which is apparently very unusual. They took our photos for the ID, and like three million finger prints, first all of them together and then one by one again. It was crazy even when getting your passport in Switzerland they don’t make that much of a deal out of it! Well when we were done we had lunch and then went to the Swiss Embajada (Embassy). The embajada however was closed and the reason that they told us was that they’ve got holidays in Switzerland. We decided that that meant we intercambios shouldn’t be in school either as we’re Swiss too. : )
They’re going to send our forms to the school so we don’t have to go back.
In the metro on the way back we were all really tired, we did lots of walking all day and the waiting wore us down too. It was a really nice day however, Juan pointed out things along the way and we saw some more of Santiago. We decided we’d trade it for going to school any day. : )
When we got back to the school I was told I have to go the director. Until now I was in the class P4. With me there are 24 people in the class, but on the list they forgot about a girl who just got back from vacation in Italy yesterday. So we’re actually 25, in the room there’s only tables for 24… If I was not an exchange student they would somehow squeeze another table in there, but she’ asked’ me if it was ok if she would switch me to M4. It’s a little annoying because I’m finally getting used to my class. But I think it will be alright. The other class is really small I think there are only 14 kids or so. Steffi who is also an intercambio is in that class as well.
So Monday morning I’m starting over in M4, we’ll see how it goes!
After that whole meeting and everything I went to Lea’s house and we made a cake for Lea’s little host sister who is turning 9 today. The cake turned out pretty good, we did have a few difficulties along the way though! : ) Lea’s family is a little more relaxed or quiet than mine and yesterday they told me that I could come over any time. It’s good to know that I have a place to go hang out or just read at if my place gets too crazy!
Catherine (intercambio too) also does gymnastics in Switzerland and her host family knows someone who owns a gym. So it looks like I’m going to be able to do gymnastics twice a week and Monday and Friday nights. I’m very happy, because even though climbing around on things at the plaza is better than nothing I’m totally gymnastics deprived!  : ) Lea and Catherine are going to take the classes too and I think that it’ll be fun!
Today I slept in and told them that I would like a tranquilo (relaxed) day. I haven’t watched a movie or read or done something by myself in a long time and writing posts for my blog takes up lots of time too. But here you go! : )
Oh by the way right know it’s a lovely 30 degrees Celsius, it does cool down at night but last night I was out at midnight with shorts and a sweatshirt and it was totally ok! I’m pretty interested how it’ll be once it starts to get cooler. Because slowly you can tell that it’s not the middle of summer anymore,  but starting to be autumn.
